  • What is Secure Africa?
    Secure Africa – Africa Regional Youth Crime Prevention & Development Conference Secure Africa is a bi-annual event where young people from various countries of the world, crime prevention practitioners, safety personnel including policymakers gathered to deliberate on issue around terrorism, violence, cybercrime, trafficking and drug use.
  • What are the Secure Africa Cardinal Objectives ?
    The Africa Regional Youth Crime Prevention & Development Conference (Secure Africa) has four cardinal objectives which include:

    Learn, share and network
    Learn, share, and network with other stakeholders on ways to combat the growing incidents of violent crimes, radicalization of young people and Internet crimes on the continent.

    Positive Youth Engagement
    Engage and empower young Africans with necessary information and tools in bringing about cycle development (all-round development), competition, and innovation.

    Peace and Security through Youth
    Encourage young people to contribute to a safer and secure Africa continent in order to increase infrastructure development.

    Collaboration with Stakeholders
    Collaborate with governments, relevant individuals, and corporations in implementing international, regional and national instruments and policies to address the growing issues of crime, unemployment and poverty in a coordinated and focused manner to deepen economies and investments.
  • When did the Secure Africa Start?
    The Secure Africa Conference started in the year 2012 and was held at the Auditorium of the Indepedent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) National Headquarters, Abuja, Nigeria.
  • What is the Desired Goal of the Secure Africa?
    Our desire is to contribute to the implementation and fulfillment of African Union 2063 Agenda for Africans and that of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number 16 which are to “promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels”. The goal target significant reduction of all forms of violence and related death rates everywhere, end abuse, exploitation, trafficking and all forms of violence against and torture of children, promote the rule of law at the national and international levels and ensure equal access to justice for all among others.
  • What is/are Secure Africa Achievement(s)?
    Girls in ICT Empowerment Program 2014-2015
    In partnership with Federal Ministry of Communication Technology and HUAWEI Technology, we conduct ICT training and empowerment program for over 1000 young girls and women all over Nigeria.

    ICT Library Sustainability Project 2016
    Focused on empowering students within Government Secondary Schools and rural communities with ICT education. Under this program, we trained more than 6000 students, teachers and principals to understand, maintain and operate the infrastructure, ensuring the project is sustainable in the long-term. Project sites include Government Secondary School, Odi, Bayelsa State, Community Secondary School, Ezinese Mgbidi, Enugu State, Community Secondary School, Bugindu, Zamfara State and Iwerre College, Koko, Delta State.

    Youth Participation Against Corruption (YPAC) – 2017 - 2019
    In partnership with a consortium of other youth organizations, we carried out YPAC project. The project promotes integrity and resistance to corruption among youths/citizens and increase organized citizen’s actions against corrupt practices. YPAC/YANET also works with partners to improve governance systems and processes to enhance the fight against corruption. The project which is funded by the Youth Alive Foundation (YAF) through DFID Anti-Corruption in Nigeria (ACORN) programme, seeks to achieve a reduction in corruption as a result of, both stronger incentives not to loot public funds and changing public attitudes that will increasingly disapprove of corrupt activities.

    Mobilizing youths’/youth groups nationally through capacity building, social marketing/behavior change communication and civic engagement are approaches adopted to build a movement of active youth advocates supporting the fight against corruption.

    Improving ICT Access for Women and Girls 2018-2019
    This project improve and increase women and girls’ access to ICT education by engaging ICT stakeholders to increase by 50% allocation of funds to women and girls ICT education, design and implement programs that focus on improving ICT skills education, access to affordable internet, creation of local and relevant content which contain concrete, time-bound targets for achieving access and use of existing facilities for young women and girls. The project also engage women and girls in schools and communities including stakeholders in ICT sector and also review and analyze existing laws, policies and programs for stakeholders and policymakers engagement.
  • Who Are the Organizer(s)?
    The Africa Centre for Citizens Orientation and its sub-progran, Youth Crime Watch Nigeriq in 2012 established the Africa Regional Youth Crime Prevention & Development Conference and tqgged it, "Secure Africa".
